Signs Of The Times!

On Tuesday, I went on exchanges with my last companion to my last area (Currituck). On the way, we apparently had a small earthquake. I didn't notice it, since we were driving on a bumpy road while it was happening, but I heard all about it. Apparently it was a 5.9 not too far from Richmond, VA. I was told that something like this hasn't happened here in over 50 years or so. Then I heard there was another earthquake later in the week up in New York. Tuesday night, me and Elder Narramore taught a recently found investigator and set him for baptism. On Wednesday, we had a Zone Conference in Virginia Beach. That was an excellent meeting. The crazy thing is that one of the sister missionaries I came out with gave a departing testimony. The time goes by all too quickly. Later that day, after we got back to Elizabeth City, we visited some former investigators. We found one that is happy to let us come back. Hopefully that goes well. On Thursday, we helped out a member couple, then did some service for another member, in preparation for the storm. That same day, we got packed and evacuated to Portsmouth, VA. The next day we got evacuated to Richmond, VA. We spent Friday doing some finding with some recently returned missionaries, then finding around the VCU school campus. That was interesting because people would just come up to us and start asking questions. We did a lot of walking around though. On Saturday, we spent the whole day inside, as Hurricane Irene was making its way through that day. As such, we played games like Apples To Apples and Uno, and watched movies like Joseph Smith: Prophet of the Restoration, The Testaments, Treasure in Heaven, Only A Stonecutter, etc. I heard that our apartment in Elizabeth City was under three feet of water. Luckily, we live on top of a parking garage, so the apartment itself was remained unharmed. I was told that the hurricane was 700 miles in diameter and hit Elzabeth City as a level 1. On Sunday we were given permission to hold our own sacrament meeting. After that we packed up and made our way down to Elizabeth City (3-4 hour drive one way). After that we went around looking for service opportunities, but most of the damage was already cleaned up. We will still look for opportunities to serve though.
