Oh What Joy Talk Assignments Are!

Last Monday, we did an overhaul of our apartment. It really needed it. That night, I had an opportunity to work on some members computers. One of the laptops was more broken than the other, so I will fix that one today. On Tuesday, we did some service for a member here. We cut their grass and we fed a deer they are taking care of. Later that day we helped a member pack to move to Utah. On Wednesday we had a district meeting in the Outer Banks. It went pretty well. We had lunch at a place called Fuji, which is a hibachi-style restaurant. After getting back to Elizabeth City, we had a good lesson with a long-time investigator. That night we stopped in and supported one of the members in their Eagle Scout Court of Honor. On Thursday, we had a car fast. At one point that day, we were stopped by a Police Officer, who checked that we had ministerial certificates. I hadn't had that happen on my mission until then. Its good we have those. On Saturday, we tried contacting a couple referrals, with one of them being home. Later that day, I baked a cake for a dinner appointment on Monday (today). Later in the day on Saturday, we filled the font and the Currituck elders had a baptism for someone I taught. That was awesome. I am glad I am still able to attend the baptisms of those that I took part in teaching. On Sunday, I gave a talk in Sacrament Meeting. After introducing myself, I talked on home/visiting teaching, tied into missionary work and family history work (as they are all part of the very same redemptive work). I would say that was my best talk to this point. I well-prepared, then strongly felt the Spirit speaking through me. It was an amazing thing. Later in church, Elder Mason ordained a youth recent convert as a Deacon. After church we joined the Bishop in taking the sacrament to a member. Later that day we tried contacting several former investigators. In general, this week has been pretty good. I do think some miracles are not too far distant for this area. I hope you all have a wonderful week!
