On The Rise!
Last Monday, we had the opportunity to give a blessing to a member of the ward that had a mini-stroke. It sounds like they are recovering very well. On Tuesday, we started going through former investigators in our area book and visited some of them. We actually had some good success come out of that. After clearing up misconceptions that one of them had, she opened right up to talking about the church. On Wednesday we had a good lesson with some other investigators. Later that day we fixed a burnt-out light bulb in our apartment (speaking of which: how many missionaries does it take to replace a light bulb?). On Thursday we had a good District Meeting in Currituck. I gave a training on the topic 'How To Begin Teaching', which went very well. Later that night, a less-active member took us to Golden Coral for dinner. I also had an opportunity to help a recent convert with some needed work on his computer. On Friday we helped a member who had a huge black walnut tree fall down during the recent storm. We spent quite a while chopping and such. Out of that service opportunity I got a good tan. Later that day we were walking to our car when we were stopped by a guy, who happened to be a former investigator. He moved from where our records showed, but he wanted all the information we could give him. We gave him a Book of Mormon, Restoration DVD, all 5 of our lesson-related pamphlets, a Family Proclaimation, and possibly more. We are hoping to start teaching him soon. On Saturday we did our two hour "Deep Clean", helped a member with a lawn-mowing service project for someone else, and we got the much-needed new number for one of the recent converts. On Sunday, we had some good meetings, in which we got some great missionary efforts for the ward in the works. After church, we took the sacrament to a couple members, then we learned of the passing of a very well-known member of the ward. It is sad, but its a good thing theres more after this life. Tuesday (today) we contacted a referral we got yesterday, who has already learned so much about the church, has attended church a few times with her sister, and is basically ready to be baptized. We are excited for that. This area is really, as the title says, on the rise. I am having a great time here. I hope you are all doing well!
