A Prophet Today Keeps The Devil Away

Last Monday, following our library email time, we began an endeavor to type up the many notes my companion took from the leadership conference for the use of those in our district. After an hours typing, we came to the sad realization that it wouldn't save the documents and my SD card was rejected by the particular computers, and all this on top of reaching our time cap. Thus an hour of work came to utter waste. That wasn't the most pleasant thing, but Elder DeMaggio spent the rest of preparation day and some of the following morning writing it neatly for copying. On Tuesday we had our district meeting, which went quite well. It was a learning experience for me, as we discussed the notes from the leadership meeting. As well, the Sisters in the district heard of the rough time with notes and brought a whole bunch of treats (cookies, popcorn balls, etc). I guess thats what happens when a Sister hears of a plight such as ours. After the meeting, my companion interviewed an awesome investigator in Elizabeth City for baptism. We will be looking forward to that this coming week. Later, at a members house, we were given the opportunity to pump well water and pull a crab pot. Then later that night, during dinner, I had the opportunity to teach my companion of my nerdy ways, as I explained to him the lower levels of how the internet works. Its a good thing to know.

On Wednesday, among seeing people, we passed a house we planned to go to and tried flipping around. In attempting such without any backing, on a day as constantly rainy as that, the car ended up slipping into a ditch and we had to get pulled out. Luckily there was a near-by member and others who helped in the situation. If nothing else, it gives something to look back on and laugh at in the future. On Thursday, being the last day of the month, and having the spare allotted miles that we did, we were able to go to more parts of our area than one on that day. On Saturday and Sunday we had an all out spiritual buffet with the awesome sessions of General Conference. Between Saturday sessions we went to a non-spiritual buffet in Elizabeth City. As Conference ended, for us, at 10:00 PM, we stayed the night with the Elizabeth City Elders. Also, as happened last Conference, I came down with an illness between Saturday and Sunday. It is the same one my companion just got over. Lastly, last night was transfer calls. I am staying here another transfer, making it 7 & 1/2 months in this area. Also, I will have, as missionaries say, my first 'eternal companion', or a companion for 3 transfers in a row. Anyway, it has been a wonderful week in general. I look forward to another. I hope the same for all of you. I hope you were all able to watch all the wonderful sessions of General Conference. If not, go and watch them on lds.org.
