Its All About Honor (The Creation And Organization, That Is)

So, it has been a pretty good week again. In my studies I have been applying something a member taught me. It is eliminating sub-vocalization when reading. Ya know how when you read, you pronounce each word in your head? This means eliminating the urge to do such. It makes it possible to read quite a bit faster and, in some respects, pick up more details. I have been making good use of it.

On Tuesday we took our car into the shop, as a result of the car troubles I believe I have previously mentioned. The T beneath the radiator-fluid reservoir was broken. Because of that we were going through fluid very quickly. While we were waiting at the dealership for the problem (which we already knew of) to be diagnosed, I read a little bit of Revelations (fun stuff). After that we were counseled to leave the car overnight. We were told that the engine should have already overheated and been damaged with how much we have used the car in its awful state. Apparently we were blessed. The next morning we biked up (5-7 miles) to our several appointments and then biked another long distance to get to the dealership (which is on the complete opposite side of the naval base from where we live. The biking wasn't that bad, but it took some time. It was kind of nice to get off the bikes though.

On Thursday we had our apartment inspected by President Thomas and his son. Apparently we are leading the zone in cleanliness (98%). Later that night we had a good lesson with our upcoming baptismal candidate, Odell. We were still planning to have him baptized this coming week, but he wasn't able to meet on Friday or Saturday, due to work. As a result, that will likely end up getting pushed a week or two forward.

On Friday we were doing some finding by a member and ran into a less-active that we haven't been able to get in contact with for a while. Apparently she doesn't really live at the address on the roster. Anyway, we were able to have a good lesson with her. After that we headed to the ward for a Luau put on by a returning member family that we have been working with. It was pretty cool. Both our ward and the other ward that meets in our building went to the activity. There was an exceeding abundance of Polynesian/Filipino food. It was good. They also had a Polynesian group come and perform. It was a great event.

On Saturday we wrote letters to other elders within our mission, as inspired by President Perry. After that, we headed to a child-of-record baptism. Later that night we went to an Elders Quorum social, which was put on as a means of child care while all the woman went to the Relief Society General Broadcast. They had some good food and activities there. Also, some homeless, somewhat drunk guy showed up and took part. He then talked to us for a while about his story (only semi-coherent), then left. That was interesting.

On Sunday we had 3 investigators at church, which is the most in a week so far for us in this area. On top of that, we had an interesting combined Elders Quorum/High Priest lesson. It was some great deep doctrine about intelligence, honor, the construct and operation of the universe, obedience, element vs spirit, etc. I loved it. Later we had a great dinner with a member and Odell, our investigator. It was really good.

So, this has been a great week. I look forward to a couple baptisms in the not-to-distant future. I'm excited.
