Paradigm Shift 2010

Lots has happened this week. Last Monday we had an appointment with a member. After that he took us to meet his neighbors from Turkey. They speak manageable english, but they're pretty cool. They are wanting to learn about Christianity, and especially, as of current, our church. They will be leaving in a few weeks, but we will still be teaching them until then. We also met some people from Russia and the Ukraine. They weren't very solid though.

Tuesday was Zone Conference. It was quite awesome. There are many changes coming. First off, most mission rules were done away, aside from the white handbook. Included in that, Ipods are now allowed, among other things. The church is beginning to make a huge push towards the greatness the internet has to offer, as well as greater member involvement. Within the next few months the church will begin a massive ad campaign on Facebook, Myspace, and many other places. Missionaries using Facebook is not too far distant. The high-quality referrals are expected to start pouring in with the new push. Along with this, the new mormon.org will be massively focused on. Members can and should take advantage of the new site. You can share your story and find people with commonalities. Also, members should really be referring their friends to the site. Theres so much that is awesome about it (aside from the obvious drawbacks, like dependence on Flash and ASP.NET). Our mission president had us explore the site and start teaching members about it. There is so much to look forward to.

On Thursday we started using our apartment gym. I am personally a bit reluctant, but my exercise in the mornings has never been that high of quality. I have also gotten a lot more exercise with my bike. As a result of the mileage limitations (induced by the opening of 3 spanish areas), we have done a lot with our bikes this week. One day we spend 7 or so hours on bikes. I am starting to enjoy biking, rather than my previous abhorrence of it. Maybe it has to do with the flatness of the beach area, whereas Charlottesville was way hilly. Either way, its good for my health and weight. Its also good for the minor illness I have had since Thursday (its nearly gone, so no worries).

Yesterday we had ward conference. It was way good. Our investigator that attended sacrament meeting really enjoyed the conference. After church we had a linger longer. That, of course, was way awesome. The Stake-run Ward Counsel was interesting though.

This week has been the subject of gaining investigators, losing others, and helping yet others to progress farther. Things are really starting to move in this area. I look forward to my continued time here. Hopefully I will get to stay beyond this transfer. All is well for now though.
