Among interesting food experiences this past week, I cracked a coconut with a 20 pound weight and drank the juice (not quite what I was expecting). I also ate nearly a whole fresh pineapple as part of a meal (coupled with ice cream and home roasted pecans and sugar). It was awful for me, but at least it tasted amazing. On top of that, our ward has a dinner calendar, which is horrible for miles sake, especially considering we just got a mile reduction, but at least we always have dinner.
We also gave blessings to two ward members and helped one of them move their stuff out of their apartment. Those were both great experiences. We have actually had a lot of great experiences with ward members and investigators this week. Among investigator experiences we are making some progress with a part-member family we are working with. We also set a guy for baptism that we brought to church for the first time yesterday and we haven't really had a full sit-down lesson with yet. He really felt the spirit at church. Lastly, we had an awesome lesson last night with a lady we met a few days ago. I feel a big change coming to this area. I look forward to it.
On Thursday, after missionary coordination, we had another big storm. I look at it as a one week anniversary to the funnel cloud the Thursday previous. We actually got our coats on and did local work in the storm. The only problem is that the coat isn't perfectly water proof. We came in drenched. Luckily the damage wasn't that bad, aside from a slightly warped planner. Next time that happens, I'm sticking my valuables in a plastic bag.
On Friday we had Zone Meeting. It was way good and I got to meet up with my MTC companion, Elder Carter. That was pretty cool. The meeting largely focused on the great importance of a functional, simple, and well-working Ward Mission Plan. It is absolutely key to the Lord's work.
On Saturday our Ward Mission Leader went with us on exchanges, but that fell-through. Instead he took us on a tour of the large base here. Its pretty sweet. The military presence here is interesting. In some ways its good, but in others its not so good, because it leads to a lot of less-active members.
Today, we went on a biking trip as a district at the First Landing State Park. It was rough because I am so terribly out of shape, but it was good. That took a few hours. I'm exhausted after that.
Anyway, life's good. I am pretty happy. The work is going pretty well in this area. Adios.
