A Sad Tale To Tell

So, this week has been an interesting one. Starting with last Monday, I attempted to make some chili (using a prefabbed chili make), but I didn't boil the beans long enough, so it wasn't as good as it could have been. On Tuesday we saw a lot of smoke and found that an island across the water was on fire. It looked huge and turned the Albemarle Sound black. It eventually cleared up though. On Wednesday we got some awful news. We heard that our recent convert in this area had a huge stroke. Later on we were told that she is not expected to live past the latter part of the current week. That was some very sad news to receive. I request that we unite in prayer to see if we can bring about a miracle. Still though, it is up to the Lord and his plan for her, but I have gained a testimony of miracles in my time out here. I know that they happen and that the Lord can bring about great things.

Yet again on Thursday, we saw another fire, but we found that it was only a burning of brush just off shore, so it wasn't threatening. On Friday we had a Zone Conference. In order to meet our ride, we had to wake up at 5 AM and leave by 6. We were waiting outside the church building for 2 and 1/2 to 3 hours before the meeting. That was alright though. After the spiritually enlightening meeting, we headed home. From the time we got back to our car, we had to drive most of an hour to get to our first appointment that day (that just goes to show the size of the area). On Saturday we went to talk to an investigator, but as we were leaving, their neighbor took down our license plate number and seemed convinced we were the type to break and enter peoples houses.

On Sunday, after church we had an excellent first lesson (along with a meal) with one of our members friends. Hopefully some good comes out of this. Later that night we got transfer calls. Me and Elder DeMaggio are staying, but he is becoming the District Leader. Also, we are getting sister missionaries in our district, who are replacing our current District Leader's companionship. Yesterday we went, with a member, to the Wright Brothers Memorial (the birthplace of flight). That was interesting. Finally, today we got pulled over by another police officer and checked because of the breaking and entering that seems to be rampant around here. That has happened so many times for me in this area. Anyway, that's alright. I suppose its just a temporary circumstance to deal with. Anyway, all is well, even though almost all of our appointments fell through this past week. I wish you all a wonderful week and Ill strive for the same.
