Great Potential

This week has been good, aside from all the appointments that fell through. That's alright though, the coming week holds a lot of promise. We have been going through our area book and doing a lot of work with former investigators and potentials. It has brought much fruit. We have been finding many that are interested in continuing to learn, including our next door neighbor. I am excited for what this area looks like it is becoming.

On Wednesday we had another car fast, which meant a lot of biking. It was good, but on the way home it started getting quite cold, which caused my companions fingers to swell (not mine though). It went away overnight though. That night and Thursday morning we had a good snow storm (4 inches). We still went out on Thursday, but did so a bit later to allow some melting. From the sounds of things, our area got hit the worst of the mission with that particular storm. But, its a good thing we went out, because we found two new investigators.

On Friday we got picked up nice and early to go to our Branch Mission Leader's insurance office to have our morning studies in one of his conference rooms. We were then taken to interviews with our mission president. Those went really well. Also that day, we got the first headquarter referral that this area has seen in a very long time (long before I ever came here). On Saturday we contacted him and set-up an appointment. After that we took our weekly half-hour of time on mormon.org. Among things, I posted a better picture of myself for my profile. Later we did some good service, helping an investigator uproot a tree stump and move brick.

Even though some aspects of this week weren't the best (such as appointments keeping), it was still a very good week in other respects. For the first time in a very long time, this area has reached and even exceeded the standard of excellence for new investigators.

Due to request, I would like to share some things that have strengthened my testimony on my mission. Before my mission I thought my testimony was strong, yet in contrast to where it is now, there is a wide margin. One of the best ways to strengthen a testimony is to share it. This is because the Holy Ghost has opportunity to testify of truth when truth is spoken, as is his purpose. Through declaring the glad tidings of the gospel, as well as hearing it declared by others, I have come to a more firm knowledge of what I know to be true. Through reading the scriptures consistently, seeking greater understanding, and praying (even vocally) on a daily basis, I have come to know how sure and true these things are, and how real the promises and blessings of the Lord can be for a person. I have truly felt the Spirit testify to me of their truth. I have seen the sanctifying power of the Spirit enacted in my life. I have felt, in part, the Lord's love. As a confirmation of the truth of this work, the Lord has blessed me with, through giving priesthood blessings, seeing miracles happen on multiple occasions, which just goes to fortify the testimony I have. This IS the Lords church. This IS the only true church on the whole earth. This IS the only way to make it back to live with Heavenly Father. I invite and encourage each of you, no matter your plight in life, to take the Lord up on His promises and to act in faith by applying the basics for life-long conversion in your life. Read the scriptures daily, pray daily (vocally), attend church, continually seek out the Lord's aid and sanctifying power in your life. If you do this you will find a happiness that cannot be replaced or forged. You will find peace that will endure through all life's trials and tribulations. I know it is true because I have been seeing it work in both my own life and in the lives of our investigators. I love each of you and hope the best.

Have a wonderful week!
