On Thursday we had interviews with our new mission president, President Perry. That went pretty well. He mostly just got to know us. Among things, Elder Gill found out that a rumor I believe I previously mentioned is true. President Monson wants to eliminate tracting as much as possible. Missionaries will soon be getting involved with Facebook. Apparently that is already being piloted in New York. I look forward to this.
A funny thing happened this week. On our way back from contacting someone we saw a lady carrying a box. Elder Gill asked if we could help her with it. Her reply was something along the lines of: "Does it look like I need help? Get the [heck] away." Then Elder Gill replied: "Sorry, we just wanted to help." In response she said: "You better be sorry... you Jehovah's Witnesses or Mormons or whatever... trying to shove religion down everybody's throats." Anyway, I just thought it was an interesting, crazy experience.
On Saturday I went on exchanges with Elder Harris (from the MTC). Among things we played basketball for morning exercise (my first time since the MTC) and Volleyball with a member and his non-member friends, as a means of inviting people to church. Those were both pretty fun. After the exchenge we were sitting in our car when a drunk guy walked up and started begging us for money to get to Maryland. A cop then pulled up and lectured him. Later we saw him back at it with other people.
So, my week was pretty good. Exciting things are going on. Missionary work is in the process of a paradigm shift. Our investigators are doing pretty well, but more prayers always help, so keep up the support. Solong for now (and dont have a cow)!
